The inaugural Read Write Poem prompt is An American Sentence- a form of poetry I’ve been meaning to try ever since I first heard of it a few months ago, but haven’t gotten up the nerve. 17 syllables is hard! But, here is my first attempt.
More shit from my pencil; how come I can’t write like Allen Ginsberg?

I like this – it’s funny.
I love this form. I had been intrigued by it, too. And look forward to exporing more. It’s a perfect bus ride opportunity for me.
PS–let’s add a label for American Sentances. I am going to keep after them.
label, yes! I’ll add it later tonight…should we post them by themselves, or in a major group?
I’m thinking with NaBloWriMo you might want to post them as they occur :-)
I may do mine week by week.
So many ideas to try!
Place, Found, American Sentences!
I already added the label I was so excited. Sorry.
WD and …deb, I’ve tagged you both for a poetry advice meme that’s making its way around the poet-blog world. Feel free to participate or not as the mood strikes – I thought of both of you because I’d love to hear what advice you’d give new poets! Details are on my blog. :)
I like this sentence! Excellent! I tag the other of you with the same meme!
I think all of us have had this thought at least once. Nice sentence!
