From now until midnight EST (9pm PST), you can watch a total eclipse of the moon! It just went into the “total phase” which will last until 11pm/8pm, and then will be partial as it moves out of phase for the subsequent hour. This is a great opportunity for most of North and South America, as well as some of Europe, Africa and Western Asia. That means if you act now, all regular readers of Stoney Moss can catch the action.
Check out NASA’s home page for the eclipse, which gives you exact times for each of the time zones. Stoney Moss is also officially hosting an eclipse poetry write-off; if you feel like writing an eclipse poem, be sure to post your link here. I’ll try to write one in the next few days. Also, we’re trying to take pictures, but failing miserably. Perhaps you’ll have better luck?
Enjoy the eclipse.
