Loosely Woven Ties
(Lines were borrowed from slynn, Nathan, Dana, Jo, Carolee, Christine and Jill. I took a few, very few, liberties and added a bridge word or two, played with tenses and altered a few pronouns, although in whole the lines are remarkably unchanged. For the original poetry-offerings go here. And while there bink on “centos” and read some amazing poetry, all assembled from two to eight sources.)
Out of those dark spots
I wake in the morning, I
live the easy life and point.
Untouched. Stepping lightly
I unravel moments after
display, always taking chances.
I will marry you,
a boy with a voice that betrays:
I imagine my past self is my daughter.
She doesn’t pull away. She’s
at home with mud deep,
just keeps delivering my mail.
You’re here as insurance,
next to tragedy, nearly
between my sheets.
And remember.
Who lives in this shape?
What has awakened in me but
someone I love into.
What loosens can be rewoven.

xxoo, dale.
I think this is fantastic. I said more stuff over at The PoCo on your post there.
Don’t know the original. Will look. What you have done with the lines is beautiful.
Thanks, Dana. It was amazing to find and use everyone’s lines.
To make a life out of words from another’s mouth. Powerful stuff, the experience of it. I am officially on the cento bandwagon.
Susan, I should write the originals in, with authors. I will do that. I thought about it, then forgot. Such is my mind.
The others’ work – their originals AND their own centos – is terrific.
