I finished this hat last Friday and mailed it. You can see the goofs (twisted yarn cause a funny thing in the rib) but I am pleased with it. I took Mark’s photo with it, too. But he looks like a ruffian in it (he says this style doesn’t look good on him) so I will not post it.
The yarn is Blue Sky Alcapas Suri Merino, color “Earth.” I went shopping for black or dark gray, but. I tell you. This sable color is gorgeous. And the feel of the yarn, oh so soft and fabulous. I need to update my Ravelry page and show this and the finished hummingbird yarn scarf.
Since this photo (me in the mirror) I have decided to wear makeup again. Particularly mascara. I just stopped doing it a while ago. Maybe I will tear up less if I am wearing mascara. Ha. No. I won’t. But it is fun to stroke mascara on my lashes. To actually see them again.
Sport got some nice long walks over the weekend, particularly Friday and Saturday. The weather was gorgeous. I’ll post a couple of pictures soon.
My badly titled poem is not being looked at until January. The publication had a bunch of submissions so stopped reading anymore. That will teach me to take my time and yet get in earlier. That is just fine though. Either way. It is an act, not a contest. An act of poetry-making. That is all.
I imagine I will not have a job come January. I am okay with that. It will be what it will be.
I get Mark’s office if he sells his business to his partner come January. Boy. The two of us at home. All the time. The dog will get lots of attention, as will the house and yard. I would look forward to it more if I knew what the end was. But we never do. So I shall steel my mind to be just fine with the here and now.
I have poetry with some Marylhurst classmates tonight. And Thursday meet with my CNF group. The class is off for January, but we may be able to do a private one-day workshop with our teacher come February. I’d like that.
That’s it for today. So far. Bye.

the hat looks so warm and i like the twisty yarn tracks. and i’m wondering what on earth is wrong with looking like a ruffian?
but this is a strange coincidence. the other day i applied eye make-up for the first time in months. it was sunday. i think it was an effort to make people look at my eyes instead of my hips. but there’s not enough mascara in all of the world. oy.
Nice hat, my favourite kind in fact, ideal to pull over the ears in a cold wind.
I’ve never worn eye makeup and wouldn’t know how to go about putting mascara on, lol
Ha! that’s absolutely brilliant. Way better than a porcupine :-)
“to be just fine with the here and now”. i love that.
the hat looks fabulous! i wish i know how to knit, its getting really cold here.
Carolee: funny about the makeup. Weird, I’d say. I’m redirecting from my growing chin. :-)
CGP: Yes, it should be quite warm. The pattern asked for double yarn past the ribbed edge. I just hope it is large enough for the inteneded. I think you are smart to have never even started make-up. It is quite ridiculous. I hate bowing to the pressure to do it. It’s a war, it is.
Lady P: Thanks for the visit! Yes, this will be much more comfortable than a porcupine ;^}
Odessa: I just learned to knit a few years ago. I’m a novice – scarfs and not-too-hard hats is about it. But it is great fun, relaxing.
Nice eyes you have, with or without make up. I love the word ‘sable,’ for the sound as well s for the color. I can’t wait to see a photo of Dave.
Have fun poeming!
enjoy and appreciate your time being out-of-work and know that you have plenty of company!!
for me it’s been a chance to find “A New Path to the Waterfall” to quote Ray Carver…here’s a copy of that poem which i posted last june if you don’t know it or want to reread it:

Oh, thanks for that. I’ll be sure to check your post. Carver is a favorite. I look forward to visiting!
