a visual prompt for Read Write Poem

Last Friday (was it only last Friday — no it must have been the 16th) en route to to my folks in Pinetop, Arizona I had a loooooong layover in Phoenix. I initially thought I’d work on my laptop, doing real work. But the sun was shining and it was looking like a high-70s-degree day so I did something else.

I took the newly opened light rail to the Heard Museum. A museum renowned for its Native American collection. A museum I had never been to.

I took some photos. And intend to share a few. Soon. But right now at Read Write Poem four of them form a visual prompt. I have ideas about the photos. Thoughts about the sculpture. But don’t want to impose them on anyone who might be tempted to poem.

Check it out. And soon, maybe in a week or so, I will write about them.

deb, thank you so much for this prompt. i saw it earlier at RWP and i’ve actually spent my writing time today with her, with this sculpture. i love her. i just do. i’ll be lucky if i can develop one of the ideas into a poem, but it’s given me several. thank you for going there and thanks for sharing her with us.

    Hi Deb,

The sculpture is beautiful. Thanks for coming by. My girls and the library are keeping me crazy busy. I have a great, active group of young women.

Thanks for offering to promote our contest. I’ll be by. Even when I’m absent you and all are on my mind.
