it’s really nice when reader’s check in

It’s  blog appreciation day, and I appreciate my (our, as soon as Whirling Dervish gets back to regular blogging, which she will!) dear readers!

I’m especially grateful when readers find their name and words used here and politely point out a discrepancy or misreading on my part. I’m clipping in Tiffany’s comment to my “found poem,” “Lament from the checkout line on the way to a baby shower” below:

hi deb ~ it’s an honor to find my words used as cutup for your poem! you did a lovely job with them.

however, i’d like to clarify one thing, and maybe it could be corrected on the post intro. i’m not infertile. in my art and writing work on this subject, i hope to illuminate points on the spectrum of momhood vs. childlessness. i think we sometimes tend to assume that women are categorized into just three definitions: mothers, infertile women, and happily childfree women. part of what i’m going through (and writing about) is the struggle to make the choice. many of us are semi-mothers, sometimes happily childfree, sometimes miserably childless, regardless of our medical (in)fertility status.

(and blythe, i hear ya about feeling like an alien… if you’d like to see a heckuvalotta blathering on the subject, i have a blog at http://magdalen.blogs.com/nymphe …)

thank you so much!

tiffany
