Today Danielle and I hiked Mount Mitchell in SW Washington, south of Mount St Helens. Guides (Sullivan and Portland Hikes Field Guide) promised four-mountain views. They didn’t mention the extraordinary beargrass, which was in full flower and more abundant than I (and other hikers on the trail) had ever seen.
