Silhouettes

One year we met often. You cut blue
Into soft arcs with glib-tongued primary tips.
Your bare head hid no apology. Humility’s
Averting eyes were no where. Once I saw you
On the sand with something the gulls wanted.
Then five and a crow peppered a canyon
Hidden by oak groves. Once at eye level — I hiked
To an overlook and you silently ignored gawking
From below. Raised your strength and sunned.

My favorite line: “Your bare head hid no apology.” But really the poem is full of great language.

    1. Deb says:

      Thanks, Dave.

I love the next line: “Humility’s
    Averting eyes were no where.”

But the two belong together …

    Very fine. :)

Yes, yes. I wanted to write more about that, but was too short on time. I didn’t write nearly what I wanted to. Next year, or perhaps I’ll make it a yearlong project.

I love this poem! I think it’s a true original. Could there be another love poem to a vulture?

Thanks for my Frida poem and card! I’m way behind on my postcard poems. Here it is Sept., and I’m still trying to finish up. School has cramped my style.

    1. Deb says:

Oh, Christine, thanks for visiting! Your time is precious these days especially. I miss you, but completely understand.
