Thanksgiving Day (in the USA; Portland, Oregon to be exact) was sodden. Yesterday we had four times our average rain (0.86 in vs. 0.20 in) and I’d thought it was to continue all week and weekend. But, Friday was lovely, so here is a fresh shadow.
(I’m obsessing on bare trees and crows at the moment. Be warned. It’s not the sharpest focus, sorry, but the texture and crazy shapes make up for that, I hope.)
Hey Harriet. A weekly post where you can see galleries of some of last week’s shots and a tour of Hey Harriet’s own creative work. Terrific images nicely put together. (Bink on the camera to go to Hey Harriet.) See Mr. Linky for this week’s offerings.

Wonderful photo, beautifully composed. I love crows and bare trees too…
Thank you! :-)
My, what a tall bird! Love this picture!
He/she is tall. Hadn’t thought of that.
I love your shot! Great composition! And here in Seattle we’re seeing the same kind of weather and I’m already waaaaay tired of gray. I love getting shots of birds even though it is hard, you’ve done a terrific job!
Enjoy your weekend, stay warm and dry!
Sylvia
Thanks, Sylvia. And yay for high pressure systems off the coast! Enjoy the weather while it lasts.
Oh, yes! This is lovely! I love the patterns of the ‘background’ that really showcase that sassy Raven.
Oh, I’m glad. This fellow/gal is actually a crow, but then the back is to you so you can’t see the tell tale beak (no “nob” or “bump”).
(The ravens around here tend to stay in up in the mountains; they’re not urbanites like the crows.)
I don’t often think about these black avians, be they grackles or crows when they are on the ground. I look upward ad birds, so when this subject leaves a shadow, it is different to my eyes. This view shows off the sunny day so well!
This is perfect and the lines in the walkway add all the more interest. Great shot!
Looks as though that crow is out of luck – not a crumb in sight! Lovely, graphic shot.
Oh, wonderful, wonderful photo!
Nice capture of this bird’s shadow. And yes, the crazy pattern and shapes are wonderful, and make up for whatever you think is lacking. But I think it’s fine just as it is.
Happy shadow hunting! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
The pavement with all its angles makes a great background for the crow and his shadow.
The background was perfect for him – a very neat photo indeed!
fantastic shot…love all the angles of the paving stones and how they complement the bird image and shadow
Super photo! Mysterious…reminds me of a si-fi movie, somehow.
i love this photo!!!!
“crow, crow”! Nice shot!
the right answer on my blog: a green Croc shoe…
Have a relaxing Sunday!
I love how the shadow fits the pattern on the patio.
Great composition! I like it!
As an artist, one of my favorite bird studies is the crow and as a former taxidermist, these shots are invaluable to posing a bird perfectly…now I just paint them…no guilt!
Wonderful texture!
I love this! I’ve seen most of the shadow shots this week, and this is near the top in my opinion! The angles and interest! Beautiful!
You captured a really cool SS–love the texture & geometrics of the pavers!
