Confluence or circumstance?: Yesterday. I read a (well-known poet’s) poem about swans eating goose hearts & read a (well-regarded) poet’s essay invoking swans eating goose hearts. These two poets live in other sides of the planet & wrote their works at different points in time. Perhaps they are psychic twins otherwise.
I wonder if this is a writing prompt or another lesson in deja vu.

I have never been comfortable referring to myself as a poet. Of course, I have never been comfortable referring to myself as an interior designer.
Ren wrote a marvelous essay about the matter at Read Write Poem, but most days I don’t believe it.
I’d like to call myself something silly, like poette. Except I’d rather be potent, although not with the reach of a potentate. Epot might suit me best. There is something about nouns that start with the letter “e” that make me happy.
Epot: A fragrant grass that waves to passing trains.

According to a Scrabble word finder site (for cheaters, obviously), here are the words that can be formed using P-O-E-T:
POET TOPE OPE OPT PET POT TOE TOP ET OE OP PE TO

What the f*** is a “tope?”

Definitions of tope on the Web:
- drink: drink excessive amounts of alcohol; be an alcoholic; “The husband drinks and beats his wife”
- stupa: a dome-shaped shrine erected by Buddhists
wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn - A small, grey, European shark, Galeorhinus galeus, that has rough skin and a long snout; To drink excessively; to get drunk
en.wiktionary.org/wiki/tope - A grove of trees.

I am quite sober. But I don’t know what OPE is, either.

i think we all go through states of not believing in ourselves and who/ what we are: poet, designer, etc… it makes us strive harder to become those things.
i’ve never understood some of the word choices in Scrabble either. i wonder how they choose what words are appropriate for the game?
have a great day.
Hi Naquillity, I think Scrabble & crosswords writers use the same dictionary of obscure 2 & 3 letter words. Oy! (An acceptable word: http://alumni.media.mit.edu/~hlubinka/personal/scrabble2letter.html)
